Composer · Arranger · Educator
Crafting music for orchestras, studios, and stages — from symphonic scores to original productions.
About
Erez Cohen is a composer, arranger, conductor, and music educator working across a wide range of musical worlds. He holds an M.A. in Composition and a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Creation from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and a teaching certificate from Levinsky College. His work moves freely between Western art music, Israeli musical traditions, popular and rock idioms, children's musical theatre, and independent production — finding coherence not in a single genre, but in a singular musical intelligence.
In recent years, wind bands have moved to the center of Erez's creative practice — a medium he engages from every angle: as a composer of programmatic concert works, as an arranger who expands and transforms existing repertoire, and as a youth wind band conductor who builds ensembles from the ground up. His works have been commissioned and performed by dozens of Israeli wind bands in festivals and concerts, alongside the IDF Military Symphonic Wind Band; his arrangements span classical orchestras, rock and pop artists, and leading Israeli recording acts.
Music education is a core part of Erez's musical identity. As a composition and songwriting mentor for young musicians, he brings the same cross-disciplinary curiosity to the classroom that drives his creative work, meeting every student where they are, and helping them find their own musical thinking. His teaching is rooted in project-based learning which enables students to grow through real life experience.

Independent Productions
Original productions born outside the commission system — where composition, arrangement, technology, and personal urgency converge into something that could only exist as a whole.
Shining Star
A special studio production in memory of Tomer Yaakov Mizrahi z"l, who fell on October 7th, 2023, while defending Kibbutz Sufa.
The production was initiated and funded by Dr. Alon Boiman. At its core is a recording of Tomer's own voice — a fragment captured on a phone in an ordinary moment, recovered through AI voice-isolation and placed at the center of a full arrangement: live drums, strings, and a production built by Erez in his studio.
The song received a Presidential Commendation, and was presented to the President together with Tomer's family.
Alma & Toast
Alma VeToast is Israel's first podcast-musical — a children's audio story told entirely through original music — twelve original songs — characters, and drama. Erez created it from the ground up: concept, composition, arrangements, direction, and production, alongside co-writer Noga Bash Koren, who was responsible for the script. The show built a cult following of families across Israel — hundreds of thousands of listens, children who know every line and parents who quietly admit they love it too. The production was backed by ACUM.
A stage adaptation is currently in development with DIDA Theatre Herzliya. An English-language pilot is also in the works.
Shoogie
Cinematic strings arrangement for this track by Shoogie, which was featured in the final episode of Bad Boy — the Israeli Netflix hit series.
Multidisciplinary
Transforming existing music into full orchestral or ensemble arrangements — respecting the original while discovering new dimensions within it.
Accompanying Rock / Pop Artists
Arrangement for chamber orchestra "Hagalil" of the iconic track by one of Israel's most celebrated rock bands, conducted by maestro Dudi Sofer.
Wind Band Arrangement
An artistic wind band arrangement dedicated to those abducted from their homes on October 7th. Performed at the Noshfim festival with 10 Israeli youth wind bands from all over the country and the IDF Military Orchestra.
Chamber Orchestra Arrangement
An early Israeli folk song arranged for chamber orchestra — evoking the sensation of stumbling upon an oasis in the heart of the Judean desert. The stark, dry opening strings give way to a blossoming tutti, mirroring the sudden encounter with water and life. Performed by the Be'er Sheva Sinfonietta under Maestro Karin Ben Yosef.
Education & Performance
Conducting educational wind bands is far more than a performance discipline. It is one of the most meaningful spaces in his work. The band is a place where young musicians learn to listen, to lead, and to express themselves in ways that few other settings allow. The podium here is not a place of authority, but of partnership: every player matters, every voice is part of the whole.
Over the years, Erez has built and led youth ensembles across Israel, practicing a pedagogy that combines musical rigor with a genuine belief in the empowering potential of collective music-making.
